People's Hearing on Coal Exports at Emerson on Nov. 20.
Tues. Nov. 20 COAL EXPORT: Raise Your Voice, Montana!
A People's Hearing 7pm at the Emerson Cultural Center
Join clean energy activists for a people's hearing to respond
to proposals to export coal from the Powder River Basin to Asia. Please
forward the description below to anybody who may be interested in
testifying, attending, or volunteering. Thank you!
The permitting process for one of the largest proposed coal export
terminals in Cherry Point, Washington has begun. Although Montanans
would be greatly impacted by exporting coal from the Powder River Basin
to Asia, decision-makers have decided NOT to hold official environmental
impact statement scoping meetings in Montana to seek input.
Clearly, Montana needs to be included when this project is evaluated! To
demonstrate the importance of this issue and collect testimony and
comments from Montanans, we will be holding our own public meetings.
Raise Your Voice, Montana! People's Hearings will provide an opportunity
to voice our concerns about the impacts coal export will have on our
communities. We refuse to be left out of this process!
